Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Nuhu Ribaduon Monday, he officially took up his duties as Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA) with a commitment to tame insecurity and stabilize the world’s most populous black nation.

Ribadu replaced former NSA Babagana Monguno, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu on June 19.

He said that President Tinubu’s administration had a huge responsibility to secure Nigeria, stabilize it and ensure peace in all parts of the country.

According to him, this is a job for Nigerians, and we intend to continue what has been done.

“We will stabilize this country, we will secure our country and we will make Nigeria peaceful because we believe that the time has come for this country to enjoy peace, restore order and the rule of law like any other country in the world.

“Securing the nation is an ongoing process. We will see what has been done and build on that. We will count on your support in carrying out our responsibilities.

“The President has a great commitment to protect every inch of our country. We will work with all stakeholders to fulfill this vision.

“This huge task of securing our country belongs to all Nigerians and all Nigerian friends,” he said.

Mr. Ribadu requested the full cooperation of all service men and women and by extension all Nigerians.

He said that uniting was necessary to achieve the current administration’s quest for a more stable, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

In his remarks, former NSA Mr. Monguno described Mr. Rubadu as well-equipped, well-qualified and well-educated to lead the country’s security agenda.

He said the retired police officer has “a very thorough understanding of the complexity of the security challenges facing the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He added that the new NSA has the ability to meet any challenge it may encounter, having served in various senior and task roles in the past.

Given his pedigree, Ribadu would be starting with a solid foundation, Monguno said.

“For me, I have been able to give you a complete note and also inform you extensively.

“For me, I want to thank Almighty God for giving me the grace to serve for so long and also for allowing me to leave in good health and enjoy the rest of my life in an atmosphere devoid of kind. of pressure associated with this very important office,” Zakari Mijinyawa, special assistant for strategic communication in the office of the National Security Adviser, said, citing the outgoing NSA.

“I also wish in the same vein that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has a very successful tenure and leaves in good health when the time comes to leave.

Mr. Monguno said that the ever-changing 21st century security environment demands a complex approach.

“Today we are dealing with a situation where we have terrorists and insurgents,” he said. “The way he will handle the situation is such that he will have to rely on the collection of competent personnel.”

He urged the staff to extend the same support and cooperation that his successor enjoyed in achieving the desired national goal.
