A Nigerian academic, Jacob Jacob, has been appointed Assistant Secretary General for Research, Evaluation and Foresight (REEF) at the Organization for Educational Cooperation (OEC).
The appointment was announced last Thursday, according to a statement on the OEC website.
Accepting his appointment, Mr. Jacob said he is honored to join the OEC and grateful for the appointment of Secretary General Manssour Bin Mussallam to join its senior management team.
“I look forward to working closely with the Secretary General and member countries to generate the knowledge and perspectives needed to transform our education into a more peaceful and prosperous future for all humanity,” he added.
Prior to joining OEC, Mr. Jacob served as Dean of the Graduate and Research School at the American University of Nigeria. He previously held academic positions at New York University’s Center for International Cooperation and in the Department of International Studies at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, where he directed the Dickinson Bridge Program.

The Organization for Educational Cooperation (OEC) was established on January 29, 2020 by countries from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific Islands at the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education held in Djibouti.
As established in its Constitutive Charter, the OEC has the purpose of contributing to the equitable, fair and prosperous social transformation of societies, through the promotion of a balanced and inclusive education, to achieve the fundamental rights to freedom, justice, dignity, sustainability, social cohesion and material and immaterial security of the peoples of the world.
