Super Eagles pistol for record in Garoua

While qualification for the Round of 16 is long overdue and first place is also guaranteed, the Super Eagles still have reason to go full throttle in their final group game tonight against Guinea Bissau.

Among other things, the Eagles have a chance to emerge as the only team at AFCON 2021 to win all three group stage matches; a development that should strike fear into the minds of their would-be Round of 16 opponents.

Super Eagles manager Agustin Eguavoen currently holds the record as the only manager to have won all three AFCON group stage matches, achieved in 2006, and he would be happy to repeat it 16 years later.

For the ‘wild dogs’, as Guinea Bissau is affectionately called, the stakes are much higher as only a maximum of three points can keep them in contention in Cameroon.
