The man, Ifeanyi Amadikwa, 52, dumped the children’s bodies in a refrigerator, Enugu state police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The preliminary investigation showed that the suspect’s wife and mother of the children went to the market with her only son on January 4, leaving the others in the suspect’s custody.
“She, however, returned in the afternoon of that date and could not find any of the three children.
“But while he was looking for them, the suspect called his attention to the said refrigerator that he had brought home from his store on January 2 and that he kept on the terrace of his apartment.
“And on closer observation, the lifeless bodies of the children were found in the refrigerator with bruises, suggesting that they may have been killed and dumped in the refrigerator,” Ndukwe, deputy superintendent of police, said in the statement.
Ndukwe said the children’s bodies were immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed their deaths and deposited them in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
He said that the Police Commissioner in the state, Lawal Abubakar, sympathized with the mother, relatives and friends of the deceased children.
The police spokesman said the commissioner has assured the public of a thorough investigation and justice in the case.
“In view of this, the commissioner has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Department of Investigation and Criminal Intelligence to carry out a conclusive investigation of the case and make sure that all the guilty are tried,” added the spokesman. from the police.
